Zevera Download Link Highlighter

Zevera supports downloads from 58 file hosting services. Which, this is a fair number, and it's really difficult for most people, I suspect, to remember which hosts Zevera supports when they're looking for files to download. I know it's been a challenge for me. Well, this script will make it much easier to identify files that you can download with your Zevera premium account.

This script is based on the Link Highlighter script created by John Bokma (I assume that's his hame). So, I didn't write this script, but I did modify it so that it would help Zevera users find (potential) download links on a page. To give another backlink to him -- a big 'thanks' goes out to JohnBokma.com for his Greasemonkey scripts. I spent weeks looking for a script to use for this purpose, and because I'm a Perl geek and not too familiar with Javascript, his simple script was just what I was looking for.

How the script works

The Zevera Link Highlighter script works, misleadingly, by putting a border around download links that Zevera supports, like so:

I opted for a border versus a highlighter so that I and other Zevera users could use the Cavern Links Checker script to highlight working download links for some of the file hosting sites Zevera supports. The red and green highlights are the work of the Cavern Links Checker.

Zevera Link Highlighter requirements

• You must have an active Zevera premium account
• You should use this script with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It's a Userscript script, so if you know of other browsers that can use these scripts, it will work for them, too.

Installation

Mozilla Firefox
In order to use the Zevera Link Highlighter with Firefox, you need to first install the Greasemonkey addon if you don't already have it. Once you install the Greasemonkey addon, you'll have to restart your browser.
After installing Greasemonkey and restarting Firefox, click on the download link. You should be presented with this popup prompt:


Note: I just reused the image for the Zevera one-click download script. The wording will vary a little bit for the Link Highlighter installation.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome runs scripts designed for Userscripts.com without any other requisite extensions or addons. So, to install in Chrome, just click on the download link, and at the bottom of your browser, you'll see a confirmation button like this:

You do not need to download the script to your computer unless you want to check out the source code. Just click on the link in Chrome or Firefox and you should be prompted to install it.

Known issues

There are a few known issues and probably some unidentified issues.

1. This script places a border around download links, and when you have multi-line download links, it may affect the aesthetics of the web page. Basically, some links will look funny.
2. This script matches the domain of a file download service within HTML tags, so some links that it outlines will not be download links, rather just links that have the domain name of a filehoster that Zevera supports somewhere in the URL. It's recommended that if you use this script in your primary browser, disable it when you're not looking for files to download.
3. This script does not differentiate between download links for hosters that work well with Zevera, or those that offer mediocre or poor support. I'm undecided on whether I will update this script to reflect changes to Zevera support for hosters (as it could be time consuming). In other words, just because a download link is outlined, this doesn't mean that it has good support with Zevera.
